This last week we were on spring break from school. It was awesome to get get one whole week off school but even better to fish for a straight week. We went to Roosevelt in hopes of finding the fish on there bed and catching some good fish on drop shots or sinkos. The fishing was a little tough when we first got there, we had to figure out there patterns. Once we did this it got real good, real fast. We caught lots of fish and three real good fish. With out a scale in the boat we have no idea of their exact weights but the last big fish had to pushing to 10 lb mark if not a little bigger. Not all of our big fish did we get on video due to leaving the camera back at camp or a dead battery once but we did get enough to make a decent show. The fish really moved shallow on Wednesday but were mainly smaller males up making the bed so this weekend ought to be awesome with the full moon on Friday. We will be back down for the Easter weekend in hopes of some more great fish. Here are a couple of the larger fish we caught and the video to follow. ENJOY! And good luck FISHING!!
Here are some pictures of our three biggest fish for the week...
It was really hard letting this monster go and not putting him on the wall. The worst part was we did not have a scale or any way to pull measurments of this awesome fish. So we took pictures and let him go, man was that hard to do!!
Here are some pictures of our Javelina hunt last year. Both of us were drawn this year for archery javelina and there is only 9 more days till our hunt starts.
This pig was killed opening morning by Steffen Koury at 22 yards. He made it about 15 yards before the rage expandable broadhead finished him off
This pig was taken by Skyler Koury on the thrid day of the hunt at 35Yards. We tracked this pig for about 60 yards on a healthy blood trail before we found him dead.
Here are some other pictures and angles of our javelina.
Well after an unsuccessful draw we decided that we were going to buy a leftover coues deer tag. We were hunting with some of our buddies Ernie and EJ. We hunted a few days with out getting close enough to get a shot on the bucks. On the 2nd day Ernie and EJ came down to help us. They live in Tucson and hunt this land alot so they knew some hot spots. The first day they were there they took my brother out and killed a buck that morning. The next day we went to the same spot they at were at yesterday and we hadn't been glassing for 15 seconds when my brother said I got deer .Unfortunately it was only 2 muley does. In the next 45 seconds EJ says I got a coues buck. As soon as we saw him we knew we had a shooter. We ranged him at 522 yards that was as close as we were going to get. I dialed up the turrets to 520 and let one fly I had shot just high. Now the buck was on the move. My 2nd shot was a hit but a little back but the buck was still moving I shot one more time and it was a perfect shot right in the shoulder he took a few more steps and fell. Then we started celebrating and taking pictures. Here is my buck scoring in at 93 and half inchs.
Two years ago I was fortunate enough to draw an east side Kaibab late tag. We had done some scouting during the Pre-season and seen some great deer. On opening morning we went to a spot that was full of deer and just as we sat down to glass my little brother looked up and said there is deer right there. He had spotted a great buck in the heat of the rut chasing does. The buck chased does up the opposite hill as I got the gun ready. When he finally stopped on the crest of the hill I squeezed the trigger and bagged this awesome buck at 386 yards.
